Sparring Helmet Pictures

Postby Brian Hunt » Wed Aug 06, 2008 12:12 am

For those of you who have been waiting for a helmet from me. I am happy to announce that I have worked out my construction issues on my new helmet style and I have completed the first one. With this out of the way, I can now try and hammer down that long waiting list I have.

I apologize for the delays, but 2008 has been a really bad year for me that has adversely affected my shop time. Things have calmed down some now and I am spending as much of my free time as possible trying to get caught up. :(

Anyway, hope you like the pics, sorry they are a little dark.

they look great! Are the neck pieces made out of metal or something else?

Looks like the neck plates are plastic, maybe even the whole thing (other than the face grill). Looks nice though, and probably pretty light.

Can you link to a material description of it, Brian?

Hi all,

the whole helmet except fot the grill is plastic. It is held together with steel rivits, leather straps and has a nylon strap with a plastic buckle to hold the two halves closed. The grill is painted steel mesh with a hand sewn nylon edging that is attached with 6 steel rivits.

you can see cost lists at my website if you look for the link at the bottom of my post.

thanks for your interest.

Very impressive. I'm just using a hockey helmet but this is beautiful. DOes it have a chinstrap?

The chin piece acts as your chin strap.

Hey Brian, can you also post the pic with the helmet open so others can see?

I had it posted before, but the image accidentally got erased, so I re-uploaded it.
