ARMA in Huntsville, AL/TN border, area?

Postby Steven C. » Sat Mar 07, 2009 11:51 am

Hi all, just registered.

Anyways, I'm 18 (19 in april) and have been fascinated with ancient and medieval history and warfare for years now. Being of German descent I've always wanted to learn the longsword, sword and buckler, messer, etc. ever since learning about ARMA years ago.

Anyways, I recently moved to Athens, Alabama, about 6 miles away from the Tennessee border. Wondering if any of you guys are anywhere near Huntsville, AL or the TN border?

Would love to get into this , so please reply if your anywhere near, or even just an hour away, I'd be willing to drive an hour out to where you are maybe once a week.

We have a study group down in Birmingham that you are more than welcome to attend. I'm not sure about the distance. We meet Saturdays at 9:00 am at Sertoma park in Hoover. You can email me at jeff.hansen@att.net. for directions or further information.

Howdy,

I live in Dickson, TN which is about 2hours 10 minutes by way of Mapquest. John Farthing is recently moved out here (about another 30 minutes farther on).

Its a bit of a drive, but you are more than welcome. We've only had one practice but we're definately planning on more regular meetings. At this point we're catch-as-catch-can, as I have a rotating, 2nd shift schedule and he's still moving in.

Feel free to e-mail me at qraid@bellsouth.net.

Several times out of the year I come down to Montgomery and I may be destined for a move to Huntsville in the next year or so. Next time I’m around I’ll make it a point to come see who ever I’m close to. I wish you guys were in touch when I lived in Alabama 6 years ago.

I just joined and am also interested in medieval swords. I am currently residing at UAH in Huntsville. I am also looking to learn from someone.

Around what time will you be here? I have summer school here so it might work out.

Sorry, but I don't know.

Work could take me there once or twice, any time this year.
