Dear List,

even though this manual it does not belong to the reinassance ( which was not alien to the stick fighting at all) I thought someone may be interested that the reprint of Giannino Martinelli's manual is out:

Trattato di scherma col bastone da passeggio-Difesa personale, Milano 1908

The essayists, member of Nova Scrimia WMAgroup, present the anastatic reproduction of the manual with an historical and technical introduction. The preface is a series of reasearchers, fencing and martial art master's annotations:
M°E.Zammarano, M°G.Toran, historical and classical fencing scholars and M°C.Regoli for the japaneses MA.
In appendix the Comandante A.Barbato's essay on the history of the school of self defence of the Local Police of Milan ,
where Martinelli held a self defence course in the 1907 which ended with such a successful exibition to encourage him to write his manual.
