PROTECTIVE GEAR - REFERRAL

Postby NathanMeidell » Thu Sep 23, 2010 7:57 pm

Hey, I'm new to the forum and am just now finding out about ARMA and other resources for Western Martial Arts.

It's awesome!

I've got a waster on the way, and am wondering about protective gear for the torso. I normally wouldn't be too worried, since it's a wooden sword, but some health issues have made the added protection worthwhile in my case.

The kind that I was most intrigued by also seems the most difficult to locate any information about online. It is shown in this video:

Does anyone have any idea? I'd appreciate the info.

Not sure what those are, but if you do a search on this forum for gambeson, brigandine or coat of plates, you should find some good discussions and links that cover what you're looking for.

Possibilities

I appreciate the advice. I stumbled on this group who may or may not offer, or know of manufacturers for that type of gear:

I guess it is a school organized in Helsinki. If not them, there is always the Zen Warrior Armory, which I found in the ARMA Forum:

In any case, your advice was enough to get me moving forward again. Thanks Stacy. If anybody else has any advice, let me know.

You're from Salt Lake City? :) I have a lot of friends who are Mormons. My best friend is a Mormon. And my childhood friend was a Mormon. My first job, I worked with a Mormon girl.... They're pretty laid back and nice people, though.

I'm originally from the great state of Louisiana....

I love Salt Lake and the people here. I've lived here nearly my entire life.
