Hanger/Broad-Sword/Military Sword

(This might be a little later than what the ARMA studys.)
Hello,
After I was assigned to teach a sword lesson in the 18th century sword. I have found that there were no manuals or drills in America that I could find at least. So I mixed Alfred Hutton, a British 1797 plate/picture, and a 1812 sword manual to teach the lesson. After the lesson I was talking to some of the other comanders and they couldn't find a manual either. So I'm on a little quest to make a 18th century military sword manuel, but before I go and start making it I wanted to ask if anyone knew of a manuel that already exists that I can't find. I'm a Captain of a American Revolutionary War group. Part Frech in real life, So I was thinking that as a captain I would have had some money and would have learned sword from a Frech sword master. This is all I have so far.

Hi,

What was the 1812 manual that you used?

There are a number of 19th century drill books on swords from that era (spadroons, cutlass, sabre, broadsword, etc., cavalry and naval). Most are very simplistic in their teachings. Several are online. You can try searching for them using the above key words.
Do NOT send me private messages via Forum messenger. I NEVER read them. To contact me please use direct email instead.

Don't forget about our Reading & Research list. You can see a list of 18th and 19th century works here:

There are a good number of British manuals to choose from, some authors:
Mc Bane
Roworth
Godfrey
Matheuson
Lonnergan
Wylde
some are avaliable on the net, some you can order from Jared Kirby.
Wylde was put on the net by Terry Brown.

I forgot where I got the 1812 manual, I only printed out parts of it.
I think I saw the scotish book somewhere.
The 18th 19th century list is good. Where can you get the things on the list from?
