Trauma questionnaire

Postby Steve Thurston » Thu Dec 11, 2003 11:30 am

Hi all!

I've been looking at some stuff to do with activity marckers and human bone for my dissertation.

It would appear that ostioarthritis and bone modification are linked to habitual activity and a catalist could be injury caused by either directly applied forces (weapon strike) or stress (torn ligaments etc.).

In order to assess the likely hood of practitioners of Medieval WMA displaying these bone modifications I have produced a questionnaire.

Unfortunatley my web design skills are non too hot, but I've put them up at the following address.

.http://hometown.aol.co.uk/scropecaptayne/myhomepage/refpage.html [/URL]

If you could cut and paste the details and email them on to me at the address on site then I would most greatful.

If you feel like printing them off and showing folks at training I would be forecer in your debt, the more people who fill one in, the more chance of getting funding for further research, perhaps even x-rays of some (hopefuly lots) of the UK guys.

Thanks in advance

Steve Thurston

Yes, just the time that you've practiced medieval WMA.

Yes if you are right handed then 3 dominant is your right shoulder.

severity should include any minor damge such as the "strain" and also anything that still hurts the next day. I find my right shoulder aches the next day from the exercise and repetative nature of training. This appears to be one of triggers for the build up of osteoarthritis in joints. Its fair to say if it caused pain it should count.(I would just like to point out at this stage; I'm not into bizzare S&M )

If you want to include anecdotes about specific injuries in the email feel free, I might be able to compare it to previous research and spark some real interest.

Thanks for the interest, please tell other!
