Cool, good to know. Though, as I said, the lighter ones are actually very nice for some students needing hem.

Thanks Stewart!

That's very exciting to hear. I may try and do this soon. I just wish they were a little cheaper since my budget's tight these days.

I went up to Provo today to train with Stewart's group. I got to hold and play with the new stirling wasters he got. When you pick one up at the hilt, it is so well balanced that it feels light. If you grab it by the point and hold it out you can get a feel for how heavy they really are. The long sword that I played with is as heavy, if not a little heavier than the Hollow Earth longsword I have. The balance on these are great. Especially the single handed ones. The other thing I really liked was the cross. Because of the way they are built, it is really easy to thumb or finger the cross. These are nice wasters.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Just to update... I received my waster 2/19. The quality was ok, but not as good as the first one I got from them. The wood had holes in it from "worms". I have not had an answer to the requested email sent to them on 2/9, and have not heard anything about a free 48" tapered long sword. If I receive one, I'll post about it here.

Just a brief report: My waster is still holding up beautifully, despite the fack that I use mine against bucklers that have a hard plastic edge (we will soon be covering them with leather to make them more historically accurate and nicer on wasters) that beats them up when I strike the bucklers. I just sanded it a little and oiled it up and....ahhh! I think I have become a loyal customer!

Just a request for those reporting on their wasters. Can you put which vendor and model you got? We've discussed a couple and I'm not sure which report comments on which vendor.

Thanks!
ciao!

Sorry for the confusion. I am refering to New Stirling Arms' "perfect" wasters. I own the one handed model and I have used Stu and Megan Feils' hand and a half models (they got both a version A and a version B which are basically a greatsword and a spadone, respectively)

they are sweet, and in my opinion are well worth the few extra dollars.

A quick criticism on the New Stirling Arms perfect wasters: my wife's pommel cracked and came off, and after very little use. The blade section was still very sturdy, though.

We're going to glue it back together and on the waster, and perhaps try to strengthen it with some brads so that it doesn't happen again.

A follow-up to my last: Tina Bailey from NSA contacted us after seeing the last post and has offered a fix-or-replace guarantee for it... so the problem is solved. And thanks to NSA - great customer service!

Quick query. (Hiya Shane! Long time no post!)

I've read and heard about double weighted wasters used to build strength and endurance. Does anyone actually make these? I've looked on the WW, NSA and HE sites but didn't see anything along these lines.

Anyone made one on their own?
