Just introducing myself

Postby Karen Rose » Mon Mar 01, 2004 8:12 pm

Hello ARMA members, and all others in attendance. I've been lurking this site for some time to make sure that this was the place I could learn the most about the Western martial arts, sword play in particular. Well, I'm thoroughly convinced that this organization is quality and I applaud you on a job well done.
I have John's book and I try to glean all I can from the vast amount of information here on the site. I've never been involved in any of the martial arts or even held a sword seriously. My goal is to learn. I'm not particularly athletic or coordinated ..... but, if next year at this time I have learned the stances and can begin to work my way around a pell I will consider that a victory . Improvement is my goal, plain and simple.
You will be hearing from me in the near future as I continue to do some reasearch before I lay out too much cash on practice equipment.
Thanks for letting me hang out.
Karen Rose

Sounds like you've got the right attitude to achieve some real improvement. Welcome to the forum, and ask away!

P.S. You don't have to lay out much cash to get started. One good waster goes a long way.

hi karen!

i have a group of absolute beginners in georgia, so if you have some questions, chances are we're dealing with it too. so anything you might ask will probably benefit us too, and vice versa.

Hello and welcome aboard, Karen. You might try to contact some of the ARMA folks in Wisconsin, I know there are at least a couple. Use this page to look for practice partners: http://www.thearma.org/Practice/partners.htm

Hi Karen! Glad to see you here. As I've mentioned in the few emails you and I have sent each other, feel free to ask any historical martial arts question you might have. No matter how inconseqincle you think they may be. We're all here to help each other out and we're all just beginners, too!

I'm still waiting on a response of available weekends from Matt in Milwaukee. Chris has already gottn' back to me, so soon all we need is to set a time/place. Then it's longsword time!
