Recommended books

Postby John Madison » Tue Mar 30, 2004 9:41 pm

I was wondering if someone could list (3-6) good books that cover much of what ARMA is about. The forums have hundreds of threads and sifting through them would take a long time and it is likely I would miss some good information.
I have printed nearly 100 pages of articles to read and I have begun reading a few of them. I was hoping to get a cliffs notes/summary on good books to buy or maybe checkout at the university library where I work.

Thanks

Other than the historical manuals section of the site, check the "OUR MEMBER BOOKS ON SWORDSMANSHIP & HISTORICAL FENCING" on the home page.

Thankyou Casper. I will check out as many of those books as I can.

The Reading & Research List has a Top Recommendations section, along with a small mountain of other titles.

I just ordered several books from Amazon:
Knight and His Weapons by Oakeshott
Knight in Battle by Oakeshott
Knight and His Armor by Oakeshott
Records of the Medieval Sword also by Oakeshott
Medieval Swordsmanship by John Clements

I think this along with the available online articles is a good start. Thanks for the help..
