tour de ARMA

Postby Ryan Ricks » Tue Apr 27, 2004 12:53 pm

hello all.

i'm in atlanta georgia, and next week i'm on my way to washington, DC for the summer.

since there seems to be several groups / members in between here and DC, i was wondering if i could hook up with y'all either on my way up there, while i'm up there, or on my way back down.

specifically, the virginia beach group's about 3 hours south of DC, and Jake Norwood's in Tennessee. Anyone know if Jake would be on the way to DC?

maybe like a couple hours here or there would be great. nothing too fancy needed.

You should be able to hit both groups without traveling TOO far out of your way.

You can take the 75 straight up to Knoxville, then take the 40E across to the 81N to the 64E. Detour around Richmond on the 295 and continue on into VA Beach on the 64.

From VA Beach it's a fairly simple (though I've only made it in three hours on the weekend, and probably NOT on a Sunday, since VAB is where DC goes for the weekend) trip back up the 64W to Richmond, further around Richmond on the 295 then up the 95N to DC.

The drive from Knoxville to VAB takes about 8-9 hours and I'd guess around 3-4 from Atlanta to Knoxville (haven't made that drive in a good long while).

thanks for the info! i'm hoping to hear from the groups that are along the route. it'd be good to even just stop over for a couple hours to train, then head back out on my merry way.

Well, I'd wager Nashville (which is more or less where I am) is quite a detour, but if you want to come (or even stop by Knoxville, about 4 hours closer to your route), then I could probably arrange an appearance at the Knoxville group (who I've been meaning to drop in on lately).

Anyone is welcome to train with us in VAB on any given sunday.Let me know you're coming and we'll make arrangements for extra gear and the like if you need to borrow a thing or two.

Also, ARMA Associate member and all-around good guy Hugh Long lives up that way(Northern VA).I'll try to contact him to see how far away he is from DC and either he or I will get back to you...

As far as I know David Welch is still arranging it, yes. I'm also preparing one for Nashville, but I'm waiting on David so that we don't collide weekends.

hi all,

i've finally finalized my itenerary for going north to DC. i'm leaving atlanta at 6 am. my route will take me up interstate 85.

is there anyone here that lives close to interstate 85 between atlanta and virginia beach? if so, PM me and maybe we can meet up for lunch or something.

Ryan, be sure to get the white sword from the man at the top of the waterfall and then find the blue ring under the statue on your way to VAB
