Shane,

"the map"

The address is :
9509 J.I. Alexander ln
Strawberry Plains TN 37871

Sorry. It really should be on the website. (ahem)

Also, FYI, we are happy to put up senior students, and a very limited number of people they can vouch for.

Thanks for the reply David.I didn't realize that the event was being held at your mailing address above. That helps a great deal.I agree that a link to the map would be a great addition to the event announcement on the ARMA home page. I can't wait to see you guys.I'm getting excited about this one...Especially if Ran can make it!

Hi, I went to check out an old highway motor inn called Arrow Motel that is 2.3 miles from the site of the Meyer Workshop on June 26-27.

The Motel is over 45 years old with the owner still in charge, the rooms are neat and clean, but the building is old. Refrigerator and microwave's can be provided in rooms at request. Bathroom is small with shower stall, no bathtub. The rooms are regular size motel rooms with double or single bed, dresser and TV. Some have small table and chairs once again you can request to have in room at reservation.

There are plenty of rooms available at this time, but once again remember there is a motorcycle convention on the same weekend and the hotels are filling up.

ARROW MOTEL
Asheville Hwy-U.S. 11-E
Knoxville, TN
(865) 933-4439
2 people 2 beds $35.50+tax
1 person 1 bed $25.50+tax

Ask for BOB, and make sure you identify yourself as an ARMA workshop attendee. He is expecting us, and will charge you more if you don't.

I just got off the phone and The Arrow Motel still has rooms.

Ordinarily you can't make reservations there and it is first come first serve. In our case they decided to make an exception. And you may have gotten someone that "didn't get the memo".

If you just call and ask to make a reservation you will be told you can't. You have to identify yourself as someone coming to the ARMA seminar. If you still have problems getting your reservations made, let me know and if necessary, I will get them made for you.

There's a discussion over at MyArmoury about straightening bent blades and the point was brought up about general blade maintenance. Since I have no blade-maintenance skills (such as sharpening/honing, polishing, etc.), I was wondering if anyone attending this event would be willing to give me some instruction on doing so. Tips and instructions from books and forums are nice, but nothing beats personal hands-on experience.

Just a note:
If you are planning on being at the workshop but are just waiting till the last minute to register, I am turning in the orders for lunch Monday June 21st at noon. If you have not contacted us by then you won't have an order for your food. We will try to feed you anyway, but it will be what we have available. And I still have some of my Y2K supplies.

And just to make things even better...

I have been waiting to get word from George Turner from KY about bringing some of his welded mail for test cutting. Not only is George coming down for the workshop, but is willing to bring down his kit and give an evening demonstration on how it is made.

Things just get better and better.
