We are very excited indeed to report that our Perfect Waster, Hand and a Half, has received official approval from ARMA. Stu Feil and company put these swords through the test and we have made many improvements to the weapon based on his exhaustive and generous feedback. I can't recommend the hand and a half sword enough. My prototype has stood up to sparring, and vigorous work on my padded pell. It is amazing how much the balance feels like a steel sword. They really should be the standard of how a waster feels. <img src="/forum/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />

As someone who works out with Stewart Feil, I can tell you he really puts a waster through it's paces. I also know how hard he can be on one, having built a couple of langen messer wasters for him. I really like the New Sterling Arms wasters, they are well balanced, have a nice weight to them and they are sturdy. They are a very nice piece of work.

The Joisey crew (North, South, and East PA) has all handled my NSA waster and everyone seems to come away with that "how can I explain a new purchase to my wife" gleam in thier eyes...
Your right Leam, we all loved the NSA waster you brought with you last week. The balance and construction was very impressive. I almost didn't want to scratch it up <img src="/forum/images/icons/smirk.gif" alt="" />

Jaron Bernstein in our study group put his new NSA waster through the paces last weekend at our NTP 1.0 seminar, and he was very impressed with the work. I'd love to try out the one my wife got a little more... except she won't let me touch it! <img src="/forum/images/icons/grin.gif" alt="" />
Jim - the one we have is a tad different than Jaron's. Jaron's has a fishtail pommel that is flush to the rest of the hilt, while ours has a ridge on it just before it meets the rest of the hilt, sort of like the ridge on a hand-and-a-half sword. Is this an option folks will be able to choose from?
The pommel has perhaps evolved the most through the last few months of trials. It was necessary to strengthen it at the point where it meets the grip while maintaining the balance. At this point there are a number of different designs amongst ARMA members, but the waster that was sent to John Clements in June had the most recent version and that, with a slight more tapering at the grip at his request, is the pommel we are using on a regular basis. This new pommel will be on a sword most recently ordered by Devin Wilson in Stu's study group. There may be other pommels out there as well, that have been ordered on a custom basis. I would heartily recommend the NSA wasters. They balance like no other waster I have handled and it appears the pommel problem has been resolved. My NSA got lots of loving attention at the 1.0 we recently had (thanks Jake! <img src="/forum/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" /> ) and it is still in fine condition with no damage. It appears that balance between good handling and durability has finally been struck.
Well, looks like I'm gonna have to pony up some cash... Hmm, I think I'll sell some old computer games, LOL. Swordfighting's a sweet multiplayer game and the graphics are awesome!
OMG! I met Jim at the Pittsburg Scottish Fair and I got to play with his wasters. The legends are TRUE!
Excellent weight and balance on these suckers. He even had a Zweihander on display that I handled and flourished a bit and it was incredible! Most replicas would have been clumsy and heavy but the zweihander was a dream! None of the wasters were too blade-heavy and they were all very lovingly crafted by Jim, who was a pretty cool guy to talk to.
I wasn't able to make a purchase at the time but I can't wait to own one of these and start playing with it. I really want to support Jim's dedication and work! We need some more entrepreneurs like him!
