I also want to thank the Welch's for putting on the Seminar as well as for Jake's excellent substance and style of instruction! I attended with one of my son's and had a really good time getting the snot beat out of me! I think that Ian's favorite grappelling move was the one where he had me 3 feet in the air and dropped me. I was so proud!

I learned an entirely new way to see the longsword. I honestly believe that when used as it was designed, with the skill of true warriors, that it is vastly superior to the katana! Most people think of the long sword as 2 edges so if one is dull you have another. such single edged thinking can leave you open for a SERIOUS disappointment!

We're submitting our papers to join, and the rest of my little clan want to join too.

Again, Thank you all for being there. It was fun to meet you all, and we look forward to crossing swords when we next cross paths.

Rob

P.S.

I want to thank John Clements for starting ARMA! I've been a student of the sword for many years. I have gleaned what I could from other organizations, but was never truely satisfied with their balance of safety and swordsmanship. I feel like I've just come home.

Hey Rob, nice to see ya online

There is actually a picture of that throw, where Ian has you lifted up all the way into the air and you're about to hit the ground very hard I'll try and send it to you or post it here. It's very cool and I'm glad that it was captured on camera. (Pity not on video!)

Edited to add the link to the picture in question:

Thanks Kat!

I agree that it would've been a great video. Most likey it would've been a favorite for many family reunions.

Yes, Shane.

As you can see in the picture, at that point I pretty well knew my fate. I knew that it was all pretty much committed and done but the pain, And that wasn't to be a lingering wait.
