NTP 1.0 in Las Vegas

Postby Tony_Indurante » Fri Aug 13, 2004 8:02 pm

Well, I had originally planned to have Jake out to do his Meyer class, but circumstances made him unavailable. Luckily, Stew Feil is available to come down and do a 1.0 class (he also promised to throw in some sword and buckler material he has been working on). 1.0 is a great class for beginers to really get their feet wet and it doesnt hurt as a refresher for more advanced students.

Some specifics- the class will be on September 25th and 26th (that's saturday and sunday). It should have cooled off enough to make an outdoor location practical.

I have plenty of crash space at my house- it's floor, but hey, it's free. If you feel the need to fly in, let me know- I'll make arrangements to have you picked up.

If you need more particulars feel free to email me indo2@cox.net or pm me.

With the two days, is extra stuff going to be covered?

Just curious.

I may have business appointments the Friday and Monday bracketing those days in the Vegas area. Very cool... <img src="/forum/images/icons/cool.gif" alt="" />

Stew did mention he would have some sword and buckler stuff to show- but what exactly he does for the class is going to be up to him.

Some more info for the 1.0 class. I'm going to keep the fee at $40 per person for both days- if I can't get enough folks to show I'll just eat the loss. The classes will run approximately 6 hours per day, with longsword on day one and part of day 2. The intro to sword and buckler (as Stew put it "what you need to know to study sword and buckler" ) will be on day 2. Figure on us going out for lunch on both days as a group and the group going out for dinner on Saturday night (that's happened at every class I've been to, and its always been one of my favorite part- it really helps to build camaraderie).

Awesome. I'll send private e-mail if I can arrange it while I'm down in LV.

Just wanted to bump this back up to the 1st page so that folks will see it.

The class is officially called "ARMA Open Seminar covering Longsword Fundamentals and special instruction from original research on the 12th century sword and buckler text MS I.33"

It will in all likelyhood be held outdoors- but September in Las Vegas is beautiful.

You are going to need a longsword waster, or something similar- no shanais, ratan, sharps, etc. Comfortable clothes and shoes as these classes tend to be hands on. As far as I understand, the sword and buckler is going to be more of a presentation than an actual hands on class.

Sorry, I haven't been home much the last couple of days. Tony, I sent you an e-mail requesting details. Did you get it? You seem to have more than one address, so let me know which address you want on the contact and I'll get the link up tonight.

Just wondering, but is there anyone in the Northeast that runs an NTP1.0? I'd love to see one held anywhere within a couple hours drive of NYC.

Hey David
Jake just did the NTP 1.0 here in Columbus in July, it is about oh 8 hour's from you heck we had people from Wisconsin, oklahoma and Indiana, in attendance.

I don't know of any other's unless Virginia beach has a resident Senior Free scholar who can or has or will do one. lol

Great Stew, we had you in mind, we will be contacting you more formally in the coming months, but I am sure we will have plenty of interest built by then- thanks Aaron
