Invitation to Cincinnati, OH Albion Round Table II

Postby Nathan Bell » Wed Aug 25, 2004 5:59 pm

Hello all,

I am hosting the second Albion Round Table event in Cincinnati, at my humble little home, and would like to invite ARMA members within range to attend.

What is it?
Basically, this event is a chance to handle, wield, and even do some light cutting with Albion swords. I also hope to have some Albion "Squire" line WMA practice blunts on hand as well. Chad Arnow hosted the first such event and described it well, here:
Albion Round Table, Descriptions and Explanations

When is it?
Still checking on dates, but likely either September 25 or October 8.

The first such event was a rousing success, and a good time to meet and socialize with fellow WMA/sword enthusiasts. ARMA member David Kite was in attendence, and may be available to give his perspective on the event?

Also one can read about the first event here Ohio Albion Round Table One on July 31

If you want to attend, please let me know what your preferred date(s) are. Even more details are available on this myArmoury thread as news develops: Fall Albion Round Table in Cincinnati Or for more Q's or details, e-mail me.

My e-mail is nate-beccy@att.net

I hope to see some new faces from the WMA community!

Great opportunity to test drive before you buy. Great opportnity to meet new people, too. Cutting at the last Round Table was restricted to pool noodles because we don't want to damage or even scratch the blades, so I'll assume the same is true for this one.

ps After I suggested to Nathan to post this here I remembered we don't really like advertisements posted here, so if anyone has issues with this, I take full responsibility.

At any rate, I recommend attending if you're able.

Umm, oops.

I do not want to violate any rules of the fora. Does it help that I am just a regular Joe with a day job, hosting a party, not an Albion employee?

AFAIK, it's still pool noodles, of which I got about 60 to shred to ribbons.

It is a great opportunity to meet up and hang out.

Hi Jeff, be glad to have you and others as well.

Just let me know a head count, so I can distribute directions, etc.

Here's how I plan to notify:

About 2 weeks or so before the event I will call for a head-count, and re-contact all people who expressed interest. At that time, for the "definites", I will e-mail an address out and some brief directions. I will also take a .jpg of the front of our house so people have a visual of which house it is on the street.

I have ambitions of trying to use the digicam to photo-document what each major turn looks like after leaving I-75 or I-71----but this last may or may not prove possible

Besides that, the "confirmed" attendees will get my phone # and cell # in case someone gets lost after leaving the main expressways. There are not too many turns off the interstates, but it can't hurt to have a way to avoid driving in circles!

This really isn't an advertisement, is it? Sounds like an informal gathering that's very much on-topic. If I weren't a two-day drive away I'd be there!

My two bits.

Sounds like a bunch of fellows getting together to talk about and handle some nice weapons, something we do in ARMA all the time

I wish I lived much closer.

Well, fellas, ther *are* hotels in the area.

I know, quite a long way to come, actually but I think maybe someone closer to your area(s) may do one of these sometime in the not-too-distant.

For you "locals"....I will be sending my address and some rough directions via e-mail next week. Jeff, I will be using the e-mail address listed here, if that's a good one, and David, I would be using the system e-mail over at myArmoury...

If there are better addresses for you folks, let me know?

nate-beccy@att.net

Thanks, see you guys soon!

Hey Jeff and David,

Could you guys bring your wasters? I am thinking that if possible, a little more active demonstration of guards, wards, and maybe even grappling would really be a great benefit to the gathering. Seeing you guys cut (correctly) will be cool, but nothing like a little sparring to help inform us non-ARMA folks....maybe even help recruit a new member or two?
