I have never seen anyone do a handspring in armour, but I have done cartwheels, monkey flips, somersaults, round-offs, and various rolls in a overly heavy set of SCA armor in my past.

Pardon me for being over technical. Actually, anything vaguely resembling a cartwheel, round off etc. would win me the bet.

Jeanry, get hold of the "Arms in Action" series episode on plate armor from the BBC shown on THC here, you will win your bet. It's right in there from the Royal Armoruies. I think it's either andy Dean or Keith Ducklin doing it all in full armor.

Thanks John, I'll try to get hold of that, the bet will defray the cost of the video I bet. Off to Ebay!

I think that I saw Hank Reinhardt rolling around in full harness in some other documentary (name escapes me). Pretty cool. JH

Doug,
Another of the Interpreters, from The Armouries, was filmed doing cart wheels and Arab springs in his full plate for the Arms in Action series. During one take, his helm fell off as he was coming out of a spring. He caught it and still landed on his feet and put the helm back on. Thats was pretty amazing.

Doug Marnick
I'll never forget when John Waller had his two assistants do a set of pushups in full plate and then sprint a 40 yard dash, keeping even with unarmored opponents, if I remember correctly.

Actually it wasn't either of them, it was Dominic Magenty, another of the originals.
