In Magister Andreas' guide, he shows the parallels of messer fencing to longsword fencing. They are basically the same. Longsword has five strikes, messer has six. My question is some discrepencies in his guide.
At the beginning it says...
The Ox is the same as the Steer guard. So they're broken with the Krump or the Rouser strike. I assume these to be performed the same.
The Plow and Boar are the same guard. They're broken with the Glancing or Restrainer strike. I also assume these to be the same.
Lower in the guide, it claims the Krumphau is the same as the waver AND restraining strike. What happened to the Rouser? I thought the Restraining Strike was the same as the Glancing Strike as it says above!
I understand that at least five of the six strikes in messer fecning are the same as the five strikes in longsword fencing. Can anyone clarify which strikes are the same as the longsword five strikes and how to perform the sixth strike?
Thanks.
