Las Vegas, NV NTP 1.0

Postby Jim Churches » Thu Jul 03, 2008 7:14 pm

Scholars, the Las Vegas Study Group is pleased to announce that we are hosting an NTP 1.0 on Saturday, August 16th. John Clements will be instructing the event. Cost will be $100 and includes continental breakfast, lunch, and beverages. We will be indoors with air conditioning and restrooms. If you haven't seen the updated curriculum, come on out and spend a day with friends both old and new. Hotel reservations are inexpensive at this time of year here in Fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada. As a reminder, members only are invited to attend this seminar. Please email or PM me if interested in attending. Thanks!

Hi, pardon my ignorance, but I've got a quick question. I was under the impression that 1.0 seminars where open to none-members wanting to get introduced to ARMA? ( my application is still being reviewed and I would love the opportunity to attend a 1.0 ! ) If somebody could clear up my confusion I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

If you've got an application pending, that's in your favor and you should email John Clements directly regarding permission to attend this event. His email address is in the footer of every page on this site.

iM a bit disappointed myself. I was looking forward to this opportunity to see what ARMA is about before I make the stalwart commitment. When did it change to members only?

NTP 1.0

Postby ChristineChurches » Sun Jul 20, 2008 1:56 pm

There seems to be some confusion. This event is not an open seminar, it is an NTP 1.0. These classes are members only. Please see our webpage concerning the ARMA's National Training Program and Open Seminars - http://www.thearma.org/NTP.htm.

In that case...

I've been stalling on submitting my membership form until I felt I knew enough to speak on the matters which would concern a novice in RMA arts. What're the chances of me being admitted if I send it tomorrow?

If you've been on the site for a bit you'll notice it takes a while, but since it is a 1.0 You may be able to get a variance on at least attending. Start petitioning now though.

OC ARMA Attendance to LV 1.0

Postby Jason Taylor » Tue Aug 05, 2008 2:48 pm

Hi Jim,

Couldn't make it last time because of my various other commitments, but it's looking good this time, if there's still space, that is. I know that three of us would definitely like to attend. One of us is Antonio, and I see he's already posted here. Do you need me to send you a check ahead of time? Also, my wife was thinking about going with me and making a weekend of it, but of course she'll want to stay closer to the strip, where there's stuff for her to do while I'm swing around a waster. How long would it take for us to get there from the strip (I'm thinking of staying at the Stratosphere for price reasons, if she decides to go)?

Thanks,

Jason

NTP 1.0

Postby ChristineChurches » Sat Aug 16, 2008 11:47 pm

What a great day of training! The restructured NTP 1.0 is definitely eye-opening.

Thanks to John Clements for coming out and working with us today - I have new appreciation for the masters and the historical manuals, and am raring to build on the foundation you have given me....where is my waster....

Thanks as well to everyone who came out (yeah even you Aaron!). I know that Las Vegas is pretty unbearable at this time of year, but it was great fun training with all of you indoors where it's cool...unlike most of our Saturdays... :D I'm looking forward to crossing swords with all of you again. Soon. Maybe in a few hours?

Glad to hear you had a great 1.0.

I had wanted to come down for this, but I was already commited to helping run a booth at a local art fair.

Another time.

Regarding our 1.0 this weekend, I was very pleased that so many were able to attend. Approximately half of the attendees were from out of town, and I understand what a commitment that is. Thanks again for coming!

I am encouraged by the new presentation method, as it allows the novice student to move directly into techniques and concepts that are so integral to the subject. In the past, it would usually take some time before a new scholar was introduced to these ideas.

Several months ago I was given a preview of the presentation method, and I think it lives up to the advertisement. I would even encourage those who feel very solid and familiar with the foundational curricula to attend, as a little review of the basics never hurt anyone, but more importantly it will show a new method of teaching the material in a manner more consistent with the ARMA's values of holistic study and application of our fighting arts. And of course you always pick up a new technique or two and get a chance to mingle and cross swords with others in our organization.

A very special Thank You to Aaron and Casper for attending. I'm certain that your presence only enhanced the quality of our event.

John - thanks and we look forward to seeing you again in several weeks at the Mexico City event.
