I do not have a Portuguese bullfighting saddle; I have a Hungarian horse archery saddle. (which is also very medieval in design) I did mention that the above saddles are very medieval. The preference for all the masters I mentioned (Dom Duarte, Monte, Reayo et al) was that they "ride short rather than long". The long stirrups were considered the "old style" used for jousting, but Dom Duarte himself prefers the leg slightly flexed in the Gineta saddle. Thanks for helping to clarify this!
