Hi there,
I have to tell you, we had hell of an experience on the weekend. We went to Vienna, to the Bibliotheks-Museum and got the actual Paulus Hector Mair codex handed out for research.
It was sooo beautiful.
I knew they were in colour. But what colour! Every page a small painting, wonderfully drawn.
Here's my question. Does anybody know anything about a fullcolour scan of the pages from one of the versions? Everywhere I find only black and white facsimiles, with very poor quality.
And Btw. That thing was gigantic. 300 pages each, it had to be bound in two separate codexes, each about 6 inches thick. The pollaxe and staff weapons part had fold-out pages (one illustration was, this way, almost 35 inches wide), and had teachings not only about ringen, dagger, longsword and pole weapons, but about rapier, Scytches (!), Tresher, Cudgel, some strange toothed Sickle (yikes!), armoured fighting some hundred pages long with lots of exotic weapons and shields.
I feel sorry that these are not online anywhere....
