I thought it would be a good time to let everyone know that Paladin has given me a tentative publication date of July 2006 for my interpretative survey book of Medieval and Renaissance dagger combat. Relying primarily on Fiore, Talhoffer, the Gladiatoria, and Jeffrey Forgeng's Meyer translation, this work is an attempt to survey the primary techniques of both armed and unarmed dagger defense from a variety of sources. In my view, not only is such material of
interest to the student of Western martial arts, but it should be helpful to anyone interested in self-defense matters generally, since, unlike sword material, the techniques presented in the old manuals are as fresh and useful
today as they were 600 years ago.
The book should be titled "Medieval and Renaissance Dagger Combat."
John Clements has contributed a great forward.
