NTP 1.0 for NC/VA?

Postby Will Adamson » Tue Nov 14, 2006 3:37 am

With all the new members in North Carolina and Virginia, I was wondering if anyone would be interested in attending a 1.0 next spring.

Winston-Salem or Greensboro, NC would probably be the most centrally located. The town I just moved from (Mebane, NC) also has a pretty good facility for this kind of thing.

April or June would probably be the best timeframe. Everyone should still try to make it to the International Event in August.

I would certainly consider coming up from Columbia, SC to support it.

I would consider driving down from VAB to support it and I have a newer guy or two here that needs to attend one as they missed the one we had in Nags Head earlier this year.

My schedule is especially hectic with school and 'Guard drills, so I can't commit, but I could probably bring one or two people down as well.

I know the feeling, I have drill every month too. Fortunately I can make mine up pretty easily.

The only reason I didn't put May down as a possibility was because of graduations. There are alot of colleges in that area, so the hotels would be full, as well as the prices bumped up.

Furniture Market in High Point, NC has the same effect, but I can't remember when that is. My brother will know, he used to write for them.

I'm not a member yet, but I'll be back in Virginia next month and will most certainly be there through next year (probably next few years). I would definitely make it a point to get down to a 1.0.

Just to verify, can I attend the 1.0 as a non-member? I'll be submitting my application once I return stateside, so it shouldn't be an issue by June, but I just want to check.

Also, (sorry if this is off topic) am I better off submitting an application for membership as an individual or does anyone recommend linking up with one of the Virginia groups first? Anyone from Virginia groups, please PM me if you have any input. I'll be living in Warrenton for a while, but will also be around the D.C. and Richmond areas regularly.

I would also like to attend, but that depends on my Guard drill dates as well. I personally would prefer June as I am about to come off of a stateside deployment and would like to get back into a normal routine and of course purchasing necessary equipment.

Hey Will,

Just to let you know, we were also planning to get a NTP 1.0 going sometime this spring up here in Northern VA/DC, though the time and place are still being worked out. I wish I could make it down to NC as well (used to live in Raleigh) but I'm pretty sure that we won't be able to make a trip until at least the summer. On the other hand, if for some reason there doesn't seem to be enough interest down south, DC's not too far away and we'd be glad to have people here. Just thought I'd mention the idea.

DC is actually much, much better for both me and the non-member I have in mind. My Guard unit is at Ft. Belvoir, even.

Well, if y'all are going to do one, then even the NC folks (who I haven't heard from) wouldn't have too far to go. I'll just shelf this again. Sorry to those who said they would be willing to come. If folks really want to do one in NC, just pipe up. :!:

I'd still like to try my hand at organizing something. Maybe just a general get-together in the next year or so.

Didn't mean to kill a good idea -- but if you do want to organize some sort of NC get-together I'd love an excuse to get back down to the Carolinas, though like I said, I probably won't be available until the summer.

In the meantime, I'll keep everyone posted about the DC NTP 1.0 and let you know when the details are hammered out.

yeah DC might be a bit too far for me too. Especially since my big trip for the year will be to the International event.

What is a 1.0?

I am in Winston-Salem. What kinda area would you need?

Hey NC/VA gang...just caught this thread from a bit ago. If there was enough interest I am quite certain that I can get the gymnasium again on the Outer Banks in NC like we did for the "Blades on the Beach" NTP 1.0 for this Spring again. The turnout was good for the area and the facility was excellent including the wrestling matts and all. Just let me know if it comes up again.
