A couple of newbies needing help

Postby Eric Cartrette » Mon Jan 08, 2007 4:02 pm

Hello everyone,
It has been about a year since I last posted. It has been pretty busy and I have not been able to pursue training through the year. Anyway, I and another guy from another forum have decided to try to get together to learn longsword, but we really would love to have someone with some experience to teach us. Is there anyone anywhere near the North Raleigh/ Franklin County, NC area that is willing to consider teaching a couple of new guys? Thanks.

Your best bet would be to take a bit of a drive over to a Virginia Beach SG practice. I did it when I lived just west of Raleigh, and although a long and monotonous drive, it was well worth it.

There is also a new study group in Cary, NC (although I haven't seen them post here as I can tell unfortunately.) New folks getting together to practice is a rather common occurance, so that might be a good avenue for you...but after you get a good intro from the VAB guys.

I might be in the area in the next month or so, but I'm pretty new too, and haven't been to a 1.0 yet (but will after next month.) Also, the DC group will be hosting a 1.0 in the near future that wouldn't be too bad of a trip for you.

I'll check into the VAB group. I did long ago, but I couldn't work anything out (it had nothing to do with the VAB group). I don't know about the guy that I am talking with about training, if he can make the trip or not. I haven't met him face-to-face yet. Keep me updated on the 1.0. I'm assuming that a 1.0 is sort of a "Basic Training."

This will help describe what a 1.0 is:

Thanks Allen. I'll read through it and hopefully make it to an upcoming event.
