Well, I'll try to answer, though I'm not sure if I understand.
If I remember correctly, that was our first bout of the day, of a planned total of ten. The rules we were sparring by are that a bout is won after any significant cut or thrust landed on one of the two opponents, on any part of the body including hands and feet. Hit's with incorrect edge placement or hits which are very light are not counted.
In this match, it is very simple. I cut once with what I believe is called a zornhau mastercut, which went through his attack (effectively deflecting his strike) and hit him hard on the back. You can even hear him vocalize a little right after the sound of the impact.
Because Skip had been hit, we both recognized that the bout was over so we reset.
Does that answer your question?
